Kailash Mansarovar Helicopter tour is considered to be a luxury tour in Tibet that starts from the capital city of Nepal itself, Kathmandu. Taking the route to Simikot via Nepalgunj from above the highlands of the country on a regular flight, the view is simply breathtaking. After stepping on Simikot, we take a private helicopter ride to the land of Hilsa, enjoying the awe-inspiring nature beneath us. The overland journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar from here is smooth and gentle. Along with a professional guide and crew to instruct us, we climb further up to Darchen and from here we take up a 3 days challenge Parikarma trek around Mt. Kailash (also known as Kora), letting the spiritual belief soak in. After an exciting yet serene experience in Mt. Kailash, we join an overland journey to Mansarovar Lake. The water of the lake, or also called “Jal” by most of the pilgrims, is considered to be a pure holy water. We collect a little amount of water and continue our drive back to Taklakot followed by Hilsa. We take the helicopter ride back to Simikot and end our journey in Kathmandu on a regular flight. 

After end of Kora, we again join an overland journey from Kora ending point to Manasarovar lake where we will collect holy Jal/water and continue drive back to Taklakot and then to Hilsa from where we take a  private helicopter ride to Simikot and then to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj on a regular flight.

Kailash Helicopter Tour – detailed itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at the Kathmandu Airport
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu International airport, you will be greeted and received by of our tour leaders. You will be then transferred to your respective hotel in our private tourist vehicle. We will provide you with detail briefing about the trip and necessary things that you will need during journey. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu city tour
Our day begins with the sightseeing of the city. First, the breakfast will be provided in the hotel and then continue for the sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. You will visit some famous temples as Pashupatinath Temple and Budhanilkanth Temple. These both temples are most significant holy temples of Nepal in regards to Lord Shiva & Vishnu respectively. We will also visit some UNESCO World Heritage sites and Kathmandu Durbar Squares. Then you return to your hotel and free time can be used for personal activities and other pre tour preparation. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
After a wonderful day in Kathmandu, we take a morning flight to Nepalgunj by a regular plane. Upon arrival at Nepalgunj airport we will be transferred to hotel. In the evening, tour guide will do some briefing about the Helicopter tour. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Fly from Nepalgunj to Simikot then Hilsa, and then drive to Purang/Taklakot
With an early morning breakfast we proceed towards Hilsa from Simikot by helicopter. On landing at Hilsa we walk up to Chinese check post that is situated at a distance of approx. half a km. across the river. We then cross the bridge on foot where we will meet our Sherpas to take care of the luggage. After all the formalities at, we board the awaiting Jeeps which will take us to Purang (Taklakot). We stay overnight at Purang which is a small border town of Tibet. You can also buy things of personal necessities here in local market. Overnight at guest hosue.  

Day 05: Acclimatization in Taklakot
Today, we will rest in Taklakot for acclimatization purpose. Before making any further journey to the higher elevation, our body should be acclimatized properly with the atmosphere in high altitude. So, it is significantly important to spend a day here for your health. We can also arrange a short visit to the Khojarnath temple which is an optional program or you may leisurely walk around the city on your own and visit the ruins of ancient Taklakot. Day 06: Drive to Lake Manasarovar
After our breakfast, we leave Taklakot on a private jeep for Lake Manasarovar. The drive to Lake Manasarovar takes about two to three hours gradually drives enjoying the scenic landscapes of the holy land. On the way we will have a short break in Rakshas Taal where we can take some pictures and enjoy the sceneries. After a short break, we will continue our drive to Lake Manasarovar. Then after a holy dip and lunch, we will depart for a circumambulation around the lake Manasarovar on private jeep. This takes approximately 3 hours. Overnight at guest house.

Day 07: Drive to Darchen, Yam Dwar and Derapuk
After performing Homa/Pooja in the morning and taking holy dip into the lake, we drive towards Darchen from where; we can see the closest view of Mount Kailash. Those, who are willing to make the holy circumambulation around the Mt. Kailash will start trekking from "Yama Dwar", while rest of the people who are not willing to go for trekking will return Darchen on Jeep and wait for others to come. The total journey to Derapuk monastery is 5 to 6 hours. However, it depends on your pace. Overnight at a mud house or fixed tent accommodation with bed.

Day 08: Trek from Dirapuk to Zuthul Puk via Drolma Pass (5636m)
Today is the toughest day of our entire journey. Early morning we start walking up hill ascending to Drolma-La (5636 m). The entire trail up to Drolma-La is gradually up and from here the trail rapidly drops down to the next valley Zuthul Puk. The holiest water pond (Gauri kunda) is just situated beyond this pass. People believe that Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva used to take bath in this lake. After making downhill trek to the valley, the trek to Zuthul Puk monastery requires another two hours. And then finally we will reach Zuthul Puk where we spend overnight at a mud house or fixed tent accommodation with bed.  

Day 09: End Kora/Trek and drive back to Taklakot
Today, we finish our trek/Kora near Darchen where our vehicles will be waiting to fetch you and transfer to Taklakot via same route. Overnight at guest house.

Day 10: Drive to Hilsa and fly to Simikot then to Nepalgunj and evening flight to Kathmandu
Today, early morning after breakfast, we will drive back to Sher village then trek down to Hilsa which takes approx. 45 minutes and then we take Helicopter flight to Simikot and to Nepalgunj via Simikot. From Nepalgunj airport, we will fly back to Kathmandu. Our wonderful trip comes to the end with farewell dinner in Kathmandu.

Day 11: Final transfer to the airport
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Kathmandu International Airport to board your flight back to home. This is an amazing way to end a life-changing journey. Come join us for this memorable trip.

Question 01: Do I Need a Passport?
Yes, you will need a passport to travel Mt. kailash and Lake Manasarovar because Kailash is located in the Autonomous Region of Tibet, China.

Question 02: What about Chinese visa?
Please be informed that this is not regular Chinese visa which you would get on your passport is not valid at Tibet. Your travel permit and Visa for travelling to Kailash and Manasarovar is organized by our company with the help of our Lhasa partner. If you are Indian passport holder you need to provide us the original passport for visa application. Foreigners can send us their passport copies by email and we will apply their visa for Kailash here in Kathmandu with their passport copies. The visa charges differ depend on nationalities, contact us for more information on Visa and permits.

Question 03: How many days required for Mt. Kailash Tour Trek?
Answer: A journey to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar require 13 days by overland (Land cruiser or Van) and 10 days by Helicopter from Simikot Region. We are also organizing Lhasa Kailash Lhasa Tour.

Question 04: How we will be doing 13 days overland tour and how about 10 days by Helicopter from Simikot?
Answer: You will be doing 13 days Kailash tour by a deluxe Van or Land cruiser. From Kathmandu to Kodari (Nepal- Tibet boarder) by a deluxe tourist coach, while in Tibet new model Land cruiser or a deluxe Van will be used. The route for the trip will be Kathmandu – Nyalam – Saga – New Dongba – Manasarovar – Darchen – Dirapuk – Zuthulpuk – Darchen – Paryang – Saga – Zhangmu – Kathmandu.

For 10 days tour by Helicopter:
Kathmandu - Nepalganj - Simikot - Hilsa (by helicopter) - Taklakot - Mansarovar - Darchen - Dirapuk - Zuthulpuk - Darchen - Mansarovar - Taklakot (by land cruiser or Van)- Hilsa - Simikot (by helicopter) - Nepalganj – Kathmandu (by regular plane or private coach).
